"I was standing on line with my parents at Tree House's original location, where we waited an hour and a half for 12 beers. I thought, 'this is a business I want to get into.' These were the salad days of craft beer, when it seemed like the lines would never end."
"I was 35, married with kids and spending more money on tolls and gas to get to the brewery than I made flipping kegs. But just working in the brewhouse responsible for some of the beer that inspired him to pursue this career path was a motivator."
"Visiting his brother in San Diego, he dropped in on Stone Brewing. It blew my mind, he remembers of the brewery still in its glory days. Sitting in an Adirondack chair taking it all in with a beer, Novick knew he wanted his own brewery."
Scott Novick's passion for craft beer began at Tree House Brewing, inspiring him to enter the industry. After years as a homebrewer in New Jersey while working in marketing, he pursued formal brewing education at the American Brewers Guild and apprenticed at Jughandle Brewing. At age 35 with family responsibilities, Novick took a keg-washing position at Other Half, accepting financial hardship for the opportunity to work at a brewery that inspired him. His dedication and work ethic earned him a spot on the brewing team within weeks. A visit to Stone Brewing in San Diego solidified his vision of opening his own brewery, demonstrating his commitment to the craft beer industry.
