Former Bud Light executive Alissa Heinerscheid, known for her failed rebranding efforts, has joined LIV Golf in a business operations role. Her tenure at Bud Light ended amid criticism over a partnership that contributed to significant financial losses for the brand. Despite her controversial history, including being a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, this hiring may benefit both Heinerscheid and LIV as she seeks redemption and they seek experienced talent. While there's speculation about LIV's intentions, the hiring appears to be more strategic than ideological.
LIV is already inherently controversial, and that probably makes it difficult in some cases to recruit top talent, noting the league's Saudi funding.
Heinerscheid was one of DEI's chief proponents at the company and never made a secret of her progressive politics during her tenure.
My guess is that LIV was probably able to get somebody relatively inexpensively to come join them and take some of her experience.
The hire isn't necessarily a sign LIV wants to go woke - it's just a win-win for both parties.
