Lakefront Brewery is commemorating the nearly 38-year legacy of its flagship beer, Riverwest Stein Amber Lager, by releasing a limited edition retro 12-pack adorned with the original 1987 label. This celebration marks the first keg's official release at the Gordon Park Pub in December 1987. Co-founders Russ and Jim Klisch reminisce about the beer's history and the iconic art, showcasing the brewery's commitment to Milwaukee's craft beer culture through nostalgia and creativity in design and community celebration.
"A quintessential street view of Riverwest, I think a local artist who went by the name 'Peggy Riverwest' converted it into a line drawing which we used at its grand unveiling."
"It wasn't until 1990 that I built a one-headed filler so we could start to bottle. We had a family friend named Linda Goehre who used the design to create our 16 oz. bottle labels which is more or less what you'll see on these cans."
