Brewbound Podcast: 42 North on Delivering a Total Guest Experience; Plus Tilray Acquires BrewDog's UK Operations
"The days of having great liquid alone? Those days are behind us now. It's really that total guest experience, so we've really leaned into that and really focused on training our employees, making our environment as approachable and inclusive as possible, and just not taking any customer for granted."
"We're seeing more younger families in our taproom, and while we're not going to put a jungle gym in the beer garden, we are leaning into it, whether it's programming that's family oriented, smaller portions on the food side for the kids. We look around the taproom and we look at the demographic, and we say, OK, what is going to appeal to this group and bring them back?"
42 North Brewing has shifted its business strategy in its second decade, recognizing that quality beer alone is insufficient for success. The brewery now emphasizes comprehensive guest experience, employee training, and creating welcoming, inclusive environments. Following its 10th anniversary, 42 North's taprooms in East Aurora and Buffalo have recovered to pre-COVID levels with strategic changes. Food and events now generate larger revenue portions, managed through a restaurant partner and live music programming. The brewery actively responds to demographic changes, including increased younger families, by offering family-oriented programming and appropriately-sized food portions. This customer-centric approach drives repeat visits and business growth.
