Bayern officials had a meeting with Ralf Rangnick last weekend, where the content of a potential cooperation was discussed. Since then, the coach has been thinking intensively about the move. Deal could be done this week if all goes to plan. Everything now speaks for Rangnick as the new Bayern coach.
As far as Bayern are concerned, it is at least a remarkable occurrence that Xabi Alonso and Ralf Rangnick were on a list of candidates for the same coaching position, as both have quite different ideas about football. One's focus is on possession of the ball, another's on winning the ball: pressing, switching, countering.
