At FC Bayern Campus, recent signings of striker Richard Meier and defender David Heindl signify a strategic shift. Heindl, a 20-year-old from SV Kapfenberg, brings professional experience and potential to strengthen Bayern's U-23 team. Sporting director Markus Weinzierl emphasizes the need for a talented defender who combines skill with developmental potential. This departure from solely developing younger players reflects Bayern's intent to promote to 3. Liga again while maintaining a balance between immediate success and long-term player development for the U-23s.
We wanted to strengthen our young Regionalliga team with a talented defender with further development potential, but also experience in professional football.
In previous years since getting relegated, the club has prioritized giving younger players a chance in the U-23s rather than older players.
