Manuel Neuer has ended international retirement to join Germany’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. Julian Nagelsmann named the 40-year-old as the team’s number one goalkeeper for the tournament. Neuer previously won the 2014 World Cup with Germany and has 124 international caps, with his most recent appearance coming in a Euro 2024 quarter-final loss to Spain. Germany’s squad also includes several players aged 40 or over, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Craig Gordon, and Edin Dzeko. The 26-man squad features five Premier League players, along with Bayern youngster Lennart Karl and Galatasaray winger Leroy Sane. Germany begins Group E play against Curacao on 14 June.
