It was not an easy decision and not an easy time. We invested a lot of time and energy into this task [with Austria] for two years, and worked to get to this position. I didn't want to jeopardize it under any circumstances. It would have been almost impossible to really do both [jobs] for two and a half months. I trusted my gut, listened to my heart and decided to stay here. In my opinion, that was still the right decision.
Things appeared to be so close between Bayern Munich and Rangnick, but ultimately things did not work out. As we all know, the Bavarians are still working on find their next leading man.
