Months of intensive negotiation have brought the centre-back close to agreeing a new long-term deal that will aid Bayern’s squad planning. Remaining minor points require approval from Upamecano’s agents before an expected official announcement. Bayern have agreed to insert a €65m release clause that becomes active from summer 2027, providing an agreed exit option if competitiveness declines. The clause is intended to reassure Upamecano while he remains committed to staying, with Vincent Kompany playing a role in persuading him.
