Motherwell have officially appointed Jens Berthel Askou, a 42-year-old Danish manager with previous experience as an assistant at FC Copenhagen. He has also managed teams in Denmark, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands. Askou expressed his excitement about joining the club, noting a shared vision and ambition with the board. He emphasized the potential for success and his eagerness to start planning for the upcoming season. His appointment is pending work permit approval, as he aims to begin next week, taking over from former manager Michael Wimmer who has moved to Germany.
"Having spoken extensively with members of the club board, it was clear from the outset that our ideas, ambitions and morals align," said Berthel Askou.
"We are all ambitious people, and we're all hungry for success. I can't wait to arrive in Scotland and begin planning for the season ahead."
"There is a lot of work to be done, but it's highly exciting."
Berthel Askou replaces Michael Wimmer, who left Fir Park in late May to join German third-tier side Jahn Regensburg.
