The obvious answer was Josip Stanišić, who Bayern foolishly loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen late in the summer transfer window without a known replacement. Leverkusen has been insistent that they will not allow Stanišić to return to Bayern until the summer because they have the exact same depth problem as Bayern. Leverkusen was just smart enough to fix it during the summer rather than pray for a miracle in January.
