Bayern Munich goalkeeper Mala Grohs has been diagnosed with cancer, prompting the club to support her recovery with a one-year contract extension through to 2026.
Mala expressed, 'The illness is a challenge that I never thought I would have to overcome. But I am sure that with the help I am now getting from all sides, I will manage it and get completely healthy again.'
Bianca Rech, Bayern's director of women's football, emphasized the team's support: 'We wish Mala a lot of strength and the best possible recovery from the bottom of our hearts.'
Since joining Bayern in 2019, Grohs has made 81 appearances, contributing to their success with three German titles and the German Super Cup.
