Bayern Munich completed its Allianz Arena renovation in 2005, making it Germany's second largest stadium. The stadium's loan has been repaid; however, ideas for expansion face major obstacles. Jürgen Muth, the arena's director, stated that increasing capacity would require disproportionate expenditure given the existing structure, potentially compromising seat quality and transport infrastructure. With the stadium capacity capped at 75,000 and limited public transport options, Muth suggests focusing efforts on improving accessibility rather than expansion. Despite rival stadiums being larger, prudent investment in transportation might address fan experience more effectively.
Increasing the capacity would mean that we would no longer be able to cope with the current building structure. In other words: It would be an expense that, in my opinion, would be grossly disproportionate to the expected number of spectators.
Furthermore, an additional fourth tier would make the stadium 15 meters higher, which would also affect the quality of the seats - regardless of whether approval is granted in principle.
We would have to see whether such a number would even be compatible with the transport infrastructure. There's only one U-Bahn line, and road capacity is also limited.
A more pressing issue is ensuring that transportation to and from the stadium is improved. Perhaps the club could concern themselves with that.
