Carlos Alcaraz pulls out of French Open title defence due to wrist injury
"After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros as we wait to evaluate the progress so we can decide when to return to the court."
"This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of it stronger."
Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the French Open because of a wrist injury he sustained during his first-round match at the Barcelona Open. He has won the French Open for the past two years and was favored to win again. After losing in the Monte Carlo Masters final, he attempted to compete in Barcelona but injured his wrist. Alcaraz stated that it is prudent to be cautious and not participate in upcoming tournaments while evaluating his recovery.
