Nathan Bishop has signed a three-year contract with AFC Wimbledon after joining from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee. Bishop, previously with Manchester United, aims to enhance the team's goalkeeping strength following the return of last season’s number one to Crystal Palace. Bishop expressed enthusiasm about joining the club, citing the manager, coaching staff, and fans as key factors in his decision. Manager Johnnie Jackson praised Bishop’s experience and quality, expecting significant contributions from him to the squad's success in League One.
Bishop began his career with Southend United before moving to Manchester United in 2020. He spent time on loan at Mansfield Town before joining Sunderland.
Bishop said, "The manager, Bayzo [goalkeeper coach Ashley Bayes], the staff and players were a massive part of me joining this fantastic club."
Johnnie Jackson expressed pleasure in signing Bishop, highlighting his quality and experience, stating, "We know exactly what we are getting and as always Bayzo will get the best out of him."
Bishop, who signed a three-year contract, aims to contribute to the club and reflected, "I am delighted to be here and cannot wait to give everything to the people who built this place brick by brick."
