Austin FC head coach Nico Estevez is optimistic about his team's development after a successful start to the 2025 MLS season, currently placing second in the Western Conference. Following a challenging experience with FC Dallas, Estevez is aware of the ongoing process of forming a cohesive identity with a new group of players and staff. He emphasizes the importance of consistency and teamwork as they look to enhance their performance. Meanwhile, St. Louis City has also had a good start, drawing comparisons to Austin in their ability to adapt strategically.
We are still in the process of getting better. We are a new group, and we have new players, new staff, and we are building towards something that we believe can create an identity with everyone.
Everyone knows what we are trying to do, and it is recognisable to them. We are not there yet. We have seen some things that are difficult to beat, a team that has a good mentality when they don't have the ball and they work hard.
I think we are getting some of those things that help us build our identity, but we need to be a little bit more consistent in some of those areas.
I think you could actually make comparisons to Austin.
