Bills covering DEI, handguns draw concern from Music Commission - Austin Monitor
Briefly

The proposed House Bill 1715 in Texas would permit licensed handguns at government property events, raising alarms among the Music Commission and event organizers about potential liabilities and increased insurance costs. City staff highlighted concerns that out-of-state event promoters might reconsider Texas events if the law passed, fearing liability issues. Additionally, live music industry representatives noted that lax gun regulations have already led to significant increases in insurance premiums, drastically affecting the feasibility of hosting events in the state.
We have been told that there would be an impact and they may look elsewhere, not want to come to Texas if that new law went into effect. So it is a very real threat to the way that we would host events.
I've been here for almost a year complaining about insurance. It was at like $86,000 a year and it went up to $120,000 a year because insurance companies are so scared of the ability to carry guns at music venues.
