Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy is set for a full offseason without limitations, according to coach Kevin O'Connell. The No. 10 pick in the 2024 draft missed his rookie season due to a knee injury but has been working diligently at the team facility. Although the Vikings have not officially named McCarthy as the starter for 2025, they have released three quarterbacks from last season. The team is also exploring options for acquiring additional quarterbacks, considering trades, free agency, and the upcoming draft.
"We've been patient and really evaluated a lot of different ways we could potentially do that. There's potential trades and free agency and still the draft."
"I think he's ready to hit the ground running as of today," O'Connell said, referring to McCarthy's preparation after missing his rookie season.
