The immediate impacts of the Michael Penix move for the Falcons
Briefly

Penix is still older for a rookie quarterback, but not outlandishly so. He’s now the starter going forward, and if he plays well, the guy for the foreseeable future.
Penix will be expected to give this offense all the things Kirk Cousins increasingly could not. He'll be asked to attack defenses downfield after Cousins ranked 19th in intended air yards per attempt.
He will, in short, be asked to use the arm the Falcons fell in love with, his underrated wheels, and his savvy to restore an element of danger and unpredictability.
So long as he shows promise—something I fully believe will happen—this offense should be improved, however slightly. That gives Atlanta a fighting chance this year.
