Rickea Jackson Told Court James Pearce Jr. 'Will Kill Me' | Defector
"I have been trying to end the relationship with James for the last three weeks, however, due to his obsessive, insecure, violent, and aggressive behavior, ending the relationship has been difficult and I am afraid for my life."
"Prior to the most recent events that took place on February 7, 2026, James has threatened to kill me, James has threatened to harm me, James has threatened to [injure] me, James has threatened to place a bag over my head, and James has verbally and physically abused me on more than one occasion."
"I am truly in fear for my life."
Miami-Dade prosecutors charged James Pearce Jr. with four crimes stemming from incidents involving his ex-girlfriend, WNBA player Rickea Jackson. The charges include felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for driving his car into Jackson's vehicle, felony fleeing police, felony resisting an officer with violence, and misdemeanor stalking for following and harassing Jackson. Jackson obtained a temporary restraining order after reporting to police that Pearce physically abused her, threatened to kill her, and made specific threats including placing a bag over her head. Jackson stated she attempted to end their multi-year relationship three weeks prior but feared for her safety due to his violent and obsessive behavior. The charges are connected to a police chase that occurred when Jackson sought help at a Doral police station.
