Ryan Morrison, from Henry County's emergency management, noted that the meteorite pierced a homeowner's roof and cracked through the flooring. The homeowner chose to remain anonymous due to privacy concerns. Reports of the phenomenon spread across Georgia and neighboring states. Meteorologist Dylan Lusk noted that the fireball appeared too high for the National Weather Service to detect on radar, framing the event as unusual, as meteor strikes aren't typically encountered by local officials.

We did not catch it on radar, and that is mostly because it looks like the fireball that occurred was a little bit too high up.
