Wright St. ousts No. 1 overall Vandy from regional
Briefly

Wright State pulled off a stunning 5-4 victory over Vanderbilt, eliminating the No. 1 national seed from the NCAA tournament. Griffen Paige excelled on the mound, giving up only one hit in eight innings, despite facing early pressure. The Raiders capitalized on back-to-back homers by Boston Smith and Luke Arnold to take an early lead. Vanderbilt, which became the first No. 1 seed to exit the regionals early since 2015, pushed back late in the game but fell short. Wright State will face Louisville next for a chance to reach the super regional.
"Biggest game I've ever pitched in, and I showed up and went out there trying to get guys out, one out at a time, one pitch at a time. You can't do anything else," Paige said.
Vanderbilt was the fourth national seed to be eliminated and became the first No. 1 to get bounced out in regionals since UCLA in 2015.
