Bryce Elder to start Monday against Marlins
Briefly

The Braves decided after Sunday's game that Bryce Elder will make his season debut and get the start against the Marlins on Monday...Fortunately, this decision seems to be focused on providing an extra day of rest for the staff as a whole instead of an injury.
Atlanta likely expected it would need to use its minor league starting pitching depth at some point this season. However, it may not have expected it to be such frequent use this early...Elder will become the eighth different pitcher to start a game for the Braves through their first 21 contests...
He has faced the Marlins more than any team so far in his young career, and has looked good against them at times. Plus, with the Braves lineup facing lefty Ryan Weathers, Elder should have some good support.
While a dominant start would certainly be welcome, if Elder can simply have the Braves in a position to win after five or six innings, he will have done his job...If Elder can produce a good start, it will be interesting to see how he is utilized moving forward.
