Braves sign Rowdy Tellez to MiLB deal, per report
Rowdy Tellez, a left-handed hitting first baseman and designated hitter, has joined the Atlanta Braves on a minor league deal. Tellez, an eight-year veteran, has consistently hit double-digit home runs since 2019, except for the 2020 season. He achieved a career-high of 35 home runs with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2022. Although not the right-handed option the Braves sought for a DH-platoon, he may provide an upgrade over Dominic Smith. Tellez, 31, previously played with Braves' prospect Nacho Alvarez, Jr. during the World Baseball Classic.
"Rowdy Tellez is an eight-year big league veteran who has posted double-digit home runs in every season since 2019, outside of the COVID-shortened 2020 season."
"He hit a career-high 35 homers with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2022."
"Although he isn't the right-handed hitting option the Braves could use as part of a DH-platoon, he could be an upgrade over Dominic Smith."
"Tellez, 31, was a teammate of Braves' infield prospect Nacho Alvarez, Jr. on team Mexico during this year's World Baseball Classic."
