The Atlanta Braves made it official Wednesday by selecting the contract of right-handed pitching prospect Spencer Schwellenbach. He will make his major league debut in Wednesday's game against the Washington Nationals.
He began the 2024 season at High A Rome where he made six starts while posting a 2.53 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 32 innings. That earned him a promotion to Double A Mississippi where he made two starts while throwing 13 scoreless innings.
Schwellenbach was ranked as the Braves' third best prospect in Battery Power's preseason Top 30 list.
Herget came over to the Braves from the Angels in exchange for cash on May 2. He appeared in two games while allowing two hits and a walk in three scoreless innings.
