Braves part ways with Paul Davis, per reports
"Multiple reports have surfaced today that the Atlanta Braves have parted ways with director of pitching development, Paul Davis. Davis, 61, had been with the Braves since 2020. As noted by Baseball America's Carlos Collazo, multiple notable Braves pitchers have come through the system during Davis' tenure, including Hurston Waldrep, Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach and AJ Smith-Shawver. The Athletic's David O'Brien adds the the expectation is that this is not the beginning of wholesale changes in their player development department."
"A former college coach, Davis worked with the St. Louis Cardinals and Seattle Mariners in various big league capacities prior to joining the Braves. He was the Mariners' pitching coach during part the 2019 season."
Paul Davis, 61, has been removed from his role as director of pitching development for the Atlanta Braves. Davis joined the Braves in 2020. Several notable pitchers progressed through the Braves system during his tenure, including Hurston Waldrep, Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach and AJ Smith-Shawver. The change is not expected to trigger wholesale revisions across the player development department. Davis previously coached at the collegiate level and worked with the St. Louis Cardinals and Seattle Mariners in various major-league capacities. Davis served as the Mariners' pitching coach for part of the 2019 season.
