Antoan Richardson returns to Atlanta as first base coach after leaving the Mets' 2025 staff. FanGraphs Team ERA- and FIP- data show two of Hefner's six Mets seasons finished below the 100 average: 2022 (92 ERA-, 89 FIP-) and 2025 (99 ERA-, 95 FIP-), suggesting the capability to lead a strong pitching staff. Both Hefner and Richardson are well-respected for their coaching acumen. Fredi Gonzalez will not return for 2026.
