Bret Hanna-Shuford, 46, was a Broadway actor and social media influencer known for Broadway Husbands, chronicling life with his husband Stephen and their son Maverick. He debuted on Broadway in 2005 in the ensemble of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and later performed in Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and understudied The Wiz. Bret was diagnosed in summer 2025 with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and T‑Cell Lymphoma. The couple shared a hospital selfie on Christmas Day expressing gratitude and hope for the new year. Bret died on the morning of 3 January, surrounded by family. A GoFundMe raised over $333,000 toward a $350,000 goal.
