Vince Zampella died at age 55, and Electronic Arts announced his death without disclosing a cause. He co-created the Call of Duty franchise, which has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide since debuting in 2003 as a World War II simulation and later exploring modern warfare. Zampella founded Respawn Entertainment in 2010 and previously served as chief executive of Infinity Ward. He led development on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Electronic Arts called his influence "profound and far-reaching," and peers expressed shock and praise for his vision and leadership.
