Science Center Plaza is alive with the sound of music - Harvard Gazette
Briefly

The Harvard Arts Festival kicked off with a vibrant performance at Science Center Plaza, featuring students and prominent artists such as operatic talent Davóne Tines. The festival celebrated art with nearly 2,000 participants involved in 150 events across Harvard's campus, highlighting both public performances and hands-on activities. Fiona Coffey, director of the Office for the Arts, emphasized the collective joy and resilience that art provides, reinforcing its essential role in nurturing community and uplifting humanity in challenging times.
As Tines' final note faded, Abe Joyner-Meyers '22, American Repertory Theater sound engineer, picked up the melody on banjo. He was quickly joined by the Arts Fest Jazz Band, which launched into "When the Saints Go Marching In" leading a parade of onlookers into the nearby tent and officially kicking off the Harvard Arts Festival's Performance Fair.
This is really the culmination of art-making that's been happening across our campus over the past year... the arts are a really great example of how we can lift each other up and how we can lift up humanity during challenging times.
