Nova Contemporary gallery taps into Thailand's burgeoning market
Briefly

Nova Contemporary, a significant player in the Thai art scene, is expanding its presence with a new 412 sq. m location in Bangkok's Bang Rak neighborhood. The inaugural exhibition, titled 'Affinities', is a showcase of 28 contemporary artists, primarily from Thailand. Sutima Sucharitakul, the gallery's founder, highlights an evolving local art market, noting increased interest from collectors despite a general slowdown. She observes a shift towards a more diverse and engaged collector base, spanning various generations and interests.
"We have more mature collectors who will buy Modern art but also video work, and many young collectors who are just growing their collections and are now looking towards local practices."
"The exhibition establishes that there really is a history and community of contemporary art here in Thailand, showing how much has evolved but also remained grounded within our local scene."
