Rooted in harvest rituals and the legend of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess, the holiday symbolizes reunion, gratitude and hope for health and happiness."
Maria Pazos, a native of Cuba and flamenco dancer, presents Mi Alma Flamenca at Gallery 9 in downtown Los Altos throughout October. Pazos uses varied mediums to convey flamenco's emotional depth, cultural richness and dynamic movement. An opening reception is set for Friday, Oct. 3, 5-8 p.m., with Spanish-themed food and drinks and event details on the gallery website. Los Altos History Museum will host its second annual Mid-Autumn Festival on Oct. 5, 1-5 p.m., in collaboration with the Greater Los Altos Chinese Association (GLACA). The festival features mooncakes, traditional crafts, cultural games, live performances, family activities, and emphasizes reunion, gratitude and cultural education; admission is $10 with free entry for members, children 12 and younger, and seniors over 65.
