Kate McKinnon’s debut novel, The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette For Young Ladies of Mad Science, is described as a middle-grade mystery aimed at celebrating oddities and differences in children.
Reflecting on her youth, McKinnon explained, 'I just felt very wrong. Like, I was not good enough and was wrong,' highlighting her early struggles with feeling like an outcast.
McKinnon humorously recounted her childhood pet experiences, stating, 'I don't recommend it for anyone... we had fun me and that iguana. And by fun, I mean we had a contentious relationship.'
In one of her fond memories, McKinnon mentioned the 'Honeysuckle Eaters Club' where she and her friends explored flower colors and nectar sweetness, showcasing her quirky interests growing up.
