Underdogs in Lisbon is hosting a collaboration with artist JR, featuring a solo exhibition and community-driven initiatives. JR's work emphasizes the capacity of art to inspire change, showcased through 36 lithographs in "JR: Through My Window." Integrated with community participation in the Inside Out Project and a new collaboration with Portuguese artist Vhils, the exhibition aims to provoke thought and encourage engagement with social issues. JR's artistic journey, stemming from street art in Paris to global interventions, highlights the intersection of art and sociopolitical transformation.
JR splits his time between creating monumental works and projects with local communities, in refugee camps, conflict zones, and other locations where the artist chooses to use art as a tool for sociopolitical transformation.
Each piece carries a social and community story, told by JR, whose audio testimony can be accessed through several QR Codes throughout the show.
