In the Middle of Miami Art Week, a Desert Oasis Awaited
"Between fairs, exhibitions, dinners, and after-hours events, the city becomes a whirlwind of creativity and constant motion. It's thrilling - but also a sensory overload, leaving little room to breathe if you don't pace yourself. In the middle of it all, Casa AnKan offered what many visitors were quietly craving: a pause. Unveiled at Alcova, OASIS emerged as a welcome sanctuary inspired by desert modernism, offering both breathing room and a space to experience the grounding power of materiality in art and design."
""With OASIS, we wanted to offer a moment of stillness - a place that feels both physical and emotional," share Casa AnKan founders Angelo Garrido and Ana Curiel. Founded in 2023, the emerging collectible design gallery approaches exhibition-making as an immersive, sensory experience, where atmosphere is as essential as the objects themselves. For OASIS, the gallery curated works by seven designers and artists whose pieces collectively shaped the tone, rhythm, and emotional resonance of the space."
Art Basel Miami produces intense activity and sensory overload. Casa AnKan opened OASIS at Alcova as a desert-modernism sanctuary providing stillness and material-focused grounding. Founders Angelo Garrido and Ana Curiel position atmosphere as essential alongside objects. The gallery, founded in 2023, curated works by seven designers whose pieces shaped the space's tone and emotional rhythm. Los Angeles-based Amorph contributed the Saba Mirror and the Nuvia Cabinet emphasized layered wood movement. Sanaa Design created No Stranger II exclusively for OASIS using gypsum, acrylic, and wool to reward close attention. Esther Knopfler's Strata Stool repurposes marble offcuts with Marbrerie Provençale. Alia Vitæ channels 1970s sculptural lighting.
