Free Art Show: Feminicons by Georgia Dominici (SF)
"Georgia Dominici is a San Francisco artist whose work interprets the female role throughout history. She explores how the expectations and standards for modern women are shaped by mythological and religious stories of the past. By presenting iconic female archetypes from mythical and allegorical narratives in a contemporary pop art style, featuring modern techniques and components, she aims to prove that we continue to look to these archaic female models as the basis for today's woman."
"Presently exhibited are works from both her Horoscope Series and Seven Deadly Sins Series. In each, the dramatic color choices and bold bright palettes modernize the classic prototypical characters, exposing their historical misogyny and latent sexist connotations."
Georgia Dominici, a San Francisco artist, presents her debut solo exhibition 'Feminicons' on March 5th at Hotel Biron Wine Bar, opening at 5pm.
