"I love to integrate manual interventions such as printing on fabric, sewing, and collage, transforming the work into more complex and tactile objects,"
"I attribute equal, if not greater, importance to the conceptual design and creative research that precede the shooting of an image,"
"a support for a tangible reworking"
"a more authentic and layered expressive language"
Manuel Grazia began with a three-year advanced photography course in Florence and moved to Milan to develop his professional practice. He hybridizes photography with mixed media, merging saturated, colourful images with influences from pop aesthetics and traditional textiles. Work includes AI-generated wrestler portraits printed on fabric, cut and sewn into crocheted doilies, and framed with furry squares or hand cutouts that function as sculptural elements. Images act as supports for tangible reworking through analogue interventions such as fabric printing, sewing, and collage. A preference for physical gestures and careful conceptual research shapes a holistic photographic process.
