European art weeks join forces for new 'spider network'
Briefly

The European art week season is kicking off this month, featuring extensive programming across major cities to enhance their art scene profiles. A collaborative initiative called the "Spider network" has emerged, linking festival directors to share insights and build closer ties. This rebooted model is inspired by pandemic-era Zoom meetings and aims to address sponsorship, media relations, and fundraising. Amsterdam Art Week leads the charge, promising 220 events in 70 venues by May 25, 2024, fostering connections between artists and audiences while keeping cultural access front and center.
We want to make people curious about contemporary art, and we want to create a space where artists can connect with collectors, curators, and the public.
We're interested in learning from one another, and in liaising over issues like sponsorship and press coverage to enhance our art week programming.
