A new interactive exhibit at the New York Hall of Science in Queens showcases the unseen infrastructure that supports city living. Running from September 5 - 12, this exhibit focuses on five sections: Transit, Sanitation, Water & Wastewater, Construction & Urban Development, and Integrated Systems. Visitors can partake in hands-on activities, such as driving a bus, building neighborhoods, and exploring the sewer system. The exhibit aims to raise awareness of essential infrastructure systems, making them visible and engaging for everyone, fostering discussions on various related topics.
"By definition, infrastructure that's working well includes things that everyday residents aren't paying attention to. Making those systems visible is a way to open up people's eyes to be more attentive to their own everyday experience in the city."
"Throughout each section, visitors of all ages can engage with hands-on activities. You can drive a bus through city streets, build your own neighborhood, take a virtual elevator ride hundreds of feet underground, trace the flow of water through our sewers, and much more."
