A Swiss museum will remove 5 paintings potentially looted by Nazis
Briefly

The renewed scrutiny on the provenance of these artworks comes as a result of the U.S. State Department's latest best practices for handling Nazi-looted art, expanding on principles set forth in 1998.
The Buhrle Foundation is acting in accordance with the agreement with the city of Zurich and the provisions of the permanent loan agreement, aiming to find a fair solution with the legal successors of the former owners.
Apart from the five artworks, the foundation is separately investigating Edouard Manet's La Sultane, which falls outside the scope of the U.S. State Department's 'best practices' due to its sales processes.
