This year's installation at Villa Necchi Campiglio, commissioned by T's editor Hanya Yanagihara, was designed by Misha Kahn. Kahn aimed to contrast the building's strict Rationalist design with playful balloon sculptures, using vibrant textiles from the Milanese brand Dedar. The installation features whimsical shapes like a Hot Air Balloon and Jellyfish, and it incorporates both fun and romantic elements. Kahn described his vision as blending a 'Bridgerton' aesthetic with playful bondage motifs, adding a lively atmosphere to the event celebrating the Salone del Mobile design fair.
I wanted them to feel a bit Bridgerton' and a bit bondage. Romantic, yet with a playful sensibility, contrasting the villa’s rigidity.
Kahn’s installation consisted of rowdy balloons and inflatable sculptures that juxtaposed the Rationalist architecture of Villa Necchi with vibrant, playful forms.
