California College of the Arts' Printmedia program celebrates its 31st year of the Yozo Hamaguchi Scholarship Award, which promotes excellence in printmedia study and practice. The program features a visiting artist lecture by Alison Saar, a Los Angeles-born artist who explores themes of racism, sexism, ageism, and bi-racial identity through sculpture, drawings, and prints. Saar holds an MFA from Otis Art Institute and has received prestigious fellowships including the United States Artist Fellowship and Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. Her work appears in major museum collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The program includes hands-on studio collaboration with the Furniture Program to carve a giant redwood table into a collaborative printing block for community use.
