The Sugar Castle marks its 20th anniversary as a large-scale holiday sugar sculpture at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco. The installation measures nearly 12 feet tall and is reported at roughly 1,000 to over 1,200 pounds, with more than 20 towers, dozens of rooms, illuminated windows, a surrounding village, and a running train. The piece was originally envisioned in 2005 and created by Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Francois Houdré and his team. The display runs November 26, 2025–January 2, 2026 in the hotel Tower Lobby, is free and open to the public, and offers smartphone augmented reality experiences. There will be no public unveiling this year; visitors who spot the mascot Francis the Dog can claim a prize at the concierge desk.
