1X, a Norwegian robotics startup, has showcased Neo Gamma, a humanoid robot equipped to perform household tasks like making tea and vacuuming. To distinguish itself from competitors, 1X designed the robot with a distinctive KnitSuit, aimed at blending functionality with a softer appearance. However, despite its intriguing design, experts raise concerns about its unsettling aesthetics. CEO Bernt Børnich expressed optimism about the future of robotic helpers but indicated that commercial release is still a long way off as they begin testing at home.
"There is a not-so-distant future where we all have our own robot helper at home, like Rosey the Robot or Baymax," said 1X CEO Bernt Børnich in a statement.
"With NEO Gamma, every engineering and design decision was made with one goal in mind: getting NEO into customers' homes as quickly as possible," Børnich promised.
