Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated the company does not believe the action is legally sound and will challenge it in court. The company can still use its AI in non-Pentagon projects. The Pentagon insists the military must be able to use technology for all lawful purposes without vendor-imposed restrictions, while Anthropic maintains its safeguards are necessary. Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael stated there is no active Department of Defense negotiation with Anthropic.
