Trump Administration Launches USAi to Accelerate Federal AI Adoption
Briefly

USAi is a secure generative AI evaluation suite available through USAi.gov that enables federal agencies to adopt AI at scale. The platform offers chat-based AI, code generation, and document summarization, and is provided to agencies without cost. USAi is intended to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and deliver better public services while maintaining trust and security. The effort supports three pillars: protecting American workers, ensuring unbiased AI systems, and safeguarding U.S.-developed technologies from misuse or theft. USAi builds on prior GSA agreements with AI vendors and aims to accelerate modernization and secure adoption of AI across government.
The Trump administration has unveiled USAi, a secure generative AI evaluation suite designed to help federal agencies adopt artificial intelligence at scale. The U.S. General Services Administration announced Thursday that the tool is now available through USAi.gov, offering capabilities such as chat-based AI, code generation, and document summarization. According to GSA Chief Information Officer David Shive, USAi aims to "cut costs, improve efficiency, and deliver better services to the public, while maintaining the trust and security the American people expect."
The launch marks a major step in implementing President Trump's AI Action Plan, introduced in July following his January directive for a government-wide AI strategy. The plan focuses on three pillars: supporting American workers, ensuring AI systems remain unbiased, and safeguarding U.S.-developed technologies from misuse or theft. David Sacks, the administration's AI and crypto czar, emphasized the importance of AI that is " truth-seeking and trustworthy " while protecting against ideological bias and security risks.
GSA Deputy Administrator Stephen Ehikian described USAi as an " on ramp" to AI adoption, similar to how GSA previously integrated cloud technologies. The platform is designed to give federal employees mission-ready AI tools without cost to their agencies, enabling faster modernization and improved security. " As we examined the president's AI action plan, we heard the call to action of, 'Hey, this is a race, and we are going to win this race,'" said GSA Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum. " From our perspective, all that meant was widespread adoption."
