Pioneering New Techniques in the Fight Against Alzheimer's Disease - News Center
Briefly

Over seven million Americans aged 65 and older live with Alzheimer's disease, highlighting an urgent need for research to enhance treatment strategies. Investigator David Gate leads Feinberg's new Abrams Research Center on Neurogenomics, focusing on brain-immune communication and immune system changes in Alzheimer's patients. Established in fall 2024, this center utilizes artificial intelligence for generating datasets that identify affected genes and cell types. Collaboration with global research institutions is key to analyzing tissue samples from living and deceased Alzheimer's patients, fostering advancements in understanding and treating the disease.
"Our mission is to discover new biology of Alzheimer's disease using novel analytic approaches," Gate said.
The center collaborates with research institutions across the U.S. and around the world to analyze tissue samples from patients both currently living with Alzheimer's disease and deceased people with Alzheimer's disease.
The center was founded in fall 2024 and part of the Feinberg Neuroscience Institute, and seeks to leverage artificial intelligence to generate datasets that reveal genes and cell types affected by Alzheimer's disease.
At the heart of the center is collaboration, Gate said.
