At the Data Center World 2025 event, NVIDIA's Wade Vinson unveiled plans for expansive AI-scale data centers, also dubbed "AI factories." The first phase of an AI factory in Texas is complete and focuses on energy-efficient design, with a goal of reaching 1.2 GW by 2026. NVIDIA's vision incorporates advanced cooling systems and the use of pre-existing structures, like old malls, to expedite construction and power efficiency. This aligns with the need for scalable solutions in the fast-evolving AI landscape.
There is no doubt that AI factories are a major trend in the data center world, said Vinson.
The first phase of this AI factory is largely complete: 200 MW in two buildings. The second phase will expand it to 1.2 GW.
