During his acceptance speech at the Saturn Awards, Nicolas Cage voiced his strong opposition to the use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking, emphasizing that robots cannot authentically reflect human experiences or emotions. He described the encroachment of AI in the industry as unsettling, warning that allowing even minor manipulations could lead to a loss of artistic integrity, reducing art to mere commercial interests. Cage implored fellow actors to protect their honest expressions and reiterated his belief that true art stems from human experience, not technology.
"I say, protect yourselves from AI interfering with your authentic and honest expressions," Cage, 61, said.
"If we let robots do that, it will lack all heart and eventually lose edge and turn to mush," Cage said.
"But there is another world that is also disturbing me: the new AI world. I am a big believer in not letting robots dream for us," Cage said.
"It's a dead end if an actor allowed AI to manipulate their performance. An inch will eventually become a mile," Cage stated.
