The joint announcements by CEOs Dario Amodei of Anthropic, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, and Jensen Huang of Nvidia came just ahead of the opening of Microsoft's annual Ignite developer conference."

The move positions Microsoft to expand model and application choices for customers while maintaining ties to OpenAI. Microsoft previously served as the exclusive cloud provider for OpenAI and integrated OpenAI technology into its Copilot assistant. Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI leaders and offers the Claude chatbot competing with ChatGPT.
